📰 News we're reading

1. Burnsville Man Charged After Allegedly Fleeing Mendota Heights Officer at More Than 100 MPH (limitless-news.com) — A 43-year-old Burnsville man is charged with felony fleeing after allegedly racing a motorcycle over 100 mph on I-494 and refusing to stop for a Mendota Heights officer, before being tracked to Burnsville via MnDOT cameras. Burnsville police arrested him at his home, and he's now free under conditions while awaiting a November 18 omnibus hearing in Dakota County.

2. Volleyball roundup: Minnewaska wins showdown with Sauk Centre Mainstreeters (wctrib.com) — Minnewaska's volleyball team just notched a big homecoming win and now heads to Burnsville for the Class AA Showcase at the Midwest Volleyball Warehouse. If you love high school volleyball, you can catch multiple ranked teams playing there Friday evening and Saturday morning, bringing strong regional competition right into Burnsville's backyard.

3. Wounded St. Peter officer helps colleagues recover through Brothers In Law (hometownsource.com) — A Southern Minnesota officer's wellness nonprofit is helping first responders process trauma using a mobile sauna and cold plunge, after he himself was badly wounded on duty. His work is partly shaped by grief from the 2024 Burnsville shooting, underscoring how that tragedy still affects families and agencies across the region while inspiring new mental health support efforts.

4. Two upcoming fraud trials (americanexperiment.org) — Two major fraud cases tied to Minnesota's free-food and Medicaid programs are heading to federal juries in St. Paul and Minneapolis, involving millions in alleged improper payments. One defendant previously ran an M5 food site among several suspected fraud locations in Burnsville, so residents may see the city's role revisited as prosecutors present evidence in court.
