• Minnesota Activates Work-Zone Speed Cameras on I-35W, Warning Drivers 10 MPH Over Limit (town.news) — If you drive I-35W through Burnsville, new work-zone speed cameras are now active in the northbound construction area near McAndrews Road, mailing warnings to anyone going 10 mph or more over the limit. The MnDOT pilot, running through October, is testing whether camera-recorded violations can reduce dangerous speeding and crashes without issuing tickets, ahead of any future legislative decisions.
• Notebook: Girls hockey co-op program could expand (hometownsource.com) — Burnsville girls hockey fans could soon see Apple Valley join the existing Burnsville-Eastview co-op, creating a three-school Valkyries team that may play at Burnsville Ice Center in January. The Minnesota State High School League board will decide on the merger as programs across the South Suburban Conference consolidate amid player shortages and shifting co-op arrangements.
• Improve your health habits with Wellness Wednesday (mprnews.org) — A Burnsville-based dentist, Dr. Elmi Abdulkadir Elmi of All About Dentistry, will join MPR's Wellness Wednesday to talk about breaking down barriers to dental care, alongside experts on colorectal cancer and fermented foods. The 9 a.m. broadcast highlights practical ways Minnesotans can improve screening habits, nutrition and access to oral health services, with insights relevant to families in Burnsville and beyond.
