James L. McClung, 86

James L. McClung, 86, of Burnsville, passed away on June 3, 2012 surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his parents, Leone and Chet and three brothers, John, Barry and Chuck, all of Mason City, Iowa. Survived by his sister, Rosemary and by his wife, Beverly, with whom he just celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary. Also survived by his children, Melinda (Duane Hiemenz), Mark, and Michelle (Lee Kump); seven grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Jim attended St. Joseph School in Mason City and graduated from the University of Iowa. He served in the Air Force in World War II and was stationed in Guam for two years. For 50 years he traveled for United Bulb selling bulb stock to florists. He had fond memories of hunting with his five friends over the years. Jim was an avid reader, he loved dogs, and there wasn't anything he couldn't build. He had a great sense of humor, and loved to tease his grandchildren. According to Jim's wishes, the family held a private service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society or to North Memorial's Hospice Care Unit. The family would like to thank the staff at Diamondcrest at The Wellstead of Rogers, as well as the Hospice Staff at North Memorial for all of their wonderful and attentive care they provided James. "Take it easy on the butter, kids."
