Black Dog Segment of Minnesota River Greenway Trail Complete

The Black Dog portion of the Minnesota River Greenway trail is once again open to pedestrians. The trail will be maintained year-round.

The Black Dog portion of the Minnesota River Greenway trail – located along the Minnesota River in
northern Burnsville – is once again open to pedestrians. Portions of the trail have been closed since June
to complete construction, according to a news release.

The new paved trail will be ideal for walking or biking, and includes an observation deck and wildlife
viewing areas. The new Minnesota Riverfront Park, which serves as a trail head to the new trail, is home
to picnic tables, a grilling area, a bicycle repair station and a parking lot.

The Black Dog portion of this trail is part of a larger network of connected trails known as the Minnesota
River Greenway. Pedestrians are now able to use the entire length of the Black Dog portion from
Minnesota Riverfront Park on the west (off Interstate 35W and Black Dog Road) to east off Highway 77. The trail will be maintained year-round.
