Black Dog Swimming to Make Big Splash in St Paul

This weekend Burnsville's Black Dog Swimming is hosting a very special -and very large - invitational swim meet in St Paul.

On December 6th and 7th Burnsville’s own Black Dog Swimming will host its largest ever - and first inclusive - annual Bone Chiller Invitational swim meet at the Butler Center Pool at St Catherine’s University.

“We are expecting more than 500 swimmers, so this is a very significant meet!” said Susan Thoresen, president of Black Dog’s board of directors. “It is also significant in that it’s the first time that the Bone Chiller Invitational will include swimmers from a Disabled Sports USA team, Courage Kenny.”

Andy Akason, co-head coach of Black Dog Swimming, noted that, “We are expecting swimmers from Duluth to Delano, and should see many of them achieve personal bests at this meet.”

Thoresen says that the event organizers are delighted that such a significant number of Minnesota’s competitive swimmers will be participating in the Bone Chiller Invitational.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our state’s swimmers to meet and compete, achieve their goals and cheer each other on!” adds Thoresen. “And it just makes sense that Courage Kenny will participate. After all, Disabled Sports USA’s stated goals are very similar to ours: to develop confidence and fitness through sports.”
