Burnsville Advances to Section 3AAA Baseball Final
The Blaze tops St. Thomas Academy 6-2 Saturday to set up a battle for the state tournament against Eastview Tuesday evening

Burnsville senior pitcher Quinn Johnson threw a four-hitter and led the third-ranked Blaze to a 6-2 win over St. Thomas Academy Saturday morning in the semifinals of the Class 3AAA baseball tournament at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville.
Burnsville scored four runs in the first inning and maintained control throughout the game.
Burnsville (20-3) will play South Suburban Conference rival Eastview (16-7) in the finals Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Alimagnet Park.

The Blaze will advance to the state baseball tournament with a victory of Eastview. However if Eastview wins that first game, then the two teams will play again for the chance to go to state.
Johnson struck out eight and walked none in the complete game victory.

In thee section games, the Blaze had outscored Rosemount, Eagan and St. Thomas Academy by a combined 30-6 margin.
The Eastview Lightning won two games in the section losers bracket, first topping Eagan 8-4 and then beating St. Thomas Academy on Saturday 8-1 to advance to the section finals.
In two regular season games between the two teams this season, Eastview won the first 5-4, while Burnsville took the second 8-4. Burnsville won the South Suburban Conference regular season title with a 15-2 record.
