(Gallery) Burnsville Track Teams Compete in Conference Meet
The Burnsville boys and girls track and field teams competed in the South Suburban Conference meet this week.
The Burnsville boys and girls track and field teams competed Tuesday and Wednesday at the South Suburban Conference championships in Apple Valley. The Blaze’s boys squad finished eighth with 35 points, while the girls team finished ninth with 19 points.
Rosemount won the boys meet with 169 points, and Lakeville North won the girls event with 117 points.
On the girls side, junior Lateeka Thompson finished fourth in the shot put at 39 feet, 5 inches, then took fifth in the discus throw at 116 feet, 2 inches.

The 4x100 meter relay team, comprised of Maddie Kuplic, Mariah Bedford, Thanh Nguyen and Erica Kesseh, finished sixth at 51.66. The 4x200 meter relay, made up of Katie Dennis, Erica MacDonald, Bedford and Nguyen, also finished sixth at 1:51.06.
Sophomore Vivian Hett finished seventh in the 3200 meter run at 11:32.16, and Jeannie Taylor finished eighth in the 300 meter hurdles at 49.18. Anne Oberg took seventh in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches.

On the boys side, Dan Nguyen took fifth in the 200 meter dash at 23.15 seconds, and Abdul Salen took fifth in the 3200 meter run at 9:40.05.
Andrew Herkenhoff took seventh in the 110 meter hurdles at 17.26, and Jordan Huus took sixth in the 300 meter hurdles at 42.12.
The 4x100 meter relay, made up of Cory Mogren, Dan Nguyen, Jalen Dyson and Lavonte Sudberry, took fourth place at 44.64, and the 4x400 meter relay—Mohamed Mahmoud, Mike Bolland, Huus and Faysal Mahmoud—took fifth at 3:34.24. The 4x800 meter relay of Faysal Mahmoud, Erik Lindstrom, Matt Connelly and Bolland took sixth at 8:36.82.
Antony Odera took fifth in the triple jump at 43-10.00.
