Burnsville Blanks Shakopee for First Soccer Win of the Season
Sophomore forward Alyssa Blahnik scores two first-half goals in 2-0 win by the Blaze
The Burnsville High School Blaze girls soccer team took advantage of visiting Shakopee early for two goals by Alyssa Blahnik and claimed a 2-0 home win Saturday.
Blahnik scored her first goal at the 11:00 mark, then added the second at 14:21 in the first half. Burnsville kept pressing its advantage the rest of the game, with several shots on goal, but neither team managed to find the back to[f the net the rest of the way.
The Blaze successfully bounced back from a 5-3 season-opening loss to Centennial on Thursday.

“We looked a lot better in our defensive structure, and I thought our attack was a little better,” said Burnsville coach John Soderholm. “Late in the game they had a lot of defenders in the box and we struggled to get the proper shots there. Other than that we looked better, better than we did Thursday night, so we’re improving.”
Burnsville (1-1) hosts Hopkins Tuesday in a match starting at 5 p.m.
