Burnsville Football Nearly Upsets Lakeville North
Blaze unable to score in second half, lose 17-14
The Burnsville football team traveled to Lakeville North on Friday evening to take on the undefeated Panthers. On Lakeville North's homecoming night, the stands were packed with spectators.
What began as a disappointment for Lakeville North turned out to be the difference in the game. A long play resulting in a touchdown for the Panthers was called back on a penalty. North had to settle for a field goal on the drive. Another touchdown was added by North to increase their lead to 10.
But then Burnsville found a formula that helped them get back into the game. That formula was to put pressure on North's quarterback Trey Heid. The defensive pressure resulted in two interceptions for the Blaze and one recovered fumble. And those turnovers resulted in points for the Burnsville offense who played on a short field. Two consecutive touchdowns gave the Blaze a 14-10 lead with just minutes to go before halftime.

A leaping catch by North's Joel Oxton reenergized the Panther offense. Trey Heid hit a wide open David Macura for a North touchdown just before half time.
Both defenses picked up the intensity in the second half and neither team could score. Lakeville North won by a final score of 17-14, with the difference being the first quarter field goal.
