Burnsville Man, 29, Drowns While Swimming In Crow Wing County Lake

Cody Kent, 29, of Burnsville, disappeared underwater while swimming in Little Emily Lake, according to authorities.

CROW WING COUNTY, MN — A Burnsville man died Saturday after disappearing underwater while swimming in a Crow Wing County lake, authorities said.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office said it was notified at about 12:11 p.m. May 30 that a man had gone underwater while swimming in Little Emily Lake and had not resurfaced.

The incident happened near the Little Emily Lake Park swimming area, according to the sheriff’s office.

Witnesses told authorities the man swam out into the lake before disappearing beneath the water. A friend was able to locate him underwater, and he was removed from the lake, officials said.

The man was identified as Cody Kent, 29, of Burnsville.

"The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to Mr. Kent’s family and friends during this difficult time," the agency said.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Emily Fire and Rescue, Emily First Responders and other emergency personnel assisted at the scene.

The drowning remains under investigation.
