Burnsville Woman Convicted of Criminal Vehicular Homicide Charged With Another DWI
Tina Laray Maynard was convicted in 2005 of criminal vehicular homicide. Now, she faces a new DWI charge.

A Burnsville woman with a history of serious drunk-driving offenses faces another felony DWI charge after she was arrested in December in Inver Grove Heights.
Tina Laray Maynard, 44, was charged by summons with a felony, first-degree DWI and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance in a criminal complaint issued Tuesday by the Dakota County Attorney's office. If convicted on the DWI charge, she could face a maximum of seven years in prison and $14,000 in fines.
Maynard was arrested in Inver Grove Heights on Dec. 24, 2010, after an officer saw her drive through a stop sign without stopping and swerve in the middle of the road, according to the complaint.

Upon approaching Maynard's vehicle, the officer smelled burnt marijuana and noticed that Maynard was visibly swaying in the driver's seat, the complaint said. Police searched the vehicle and found two marijuana cigarettes and two bottles of prescription pills without labels. After Maynard failed a field sobriety test, police administered a preliminary breath test, which came back negative for alcohol.
Maynard was transported to the Inver Grove Heights police station, where police say she refused to submit to blood or urine testing or be evaluated by a drug recognition expert. Tests later determined that Maynard had a total of 86 oxycodone pills in the bottles found in her vehicle.

Maynard allegedly told the arresting officer that she had a prior conviction for a DWI incident that resulted in a person's death, the complaint said. Minnesota court records show that she was originally convicted in 2005 on two felony charges of criminal vehicular homicide.
For those convictions, she spent time in the Ramsey County Correctional Facility and was sentenced to 10 years of probation. Maynard was also convicted of a DUI in 1995, according to court records.
Maynard posted a $25,000 bail in December and was released from Dakota County Jail. In March, she was sentenced in Ramsey County to 180 days in a correctional facility in relation to the December incident for violating the provisions her probation. Her next court date in Dakota County is scheduled for June 3.
