Burnsville’s PCL Construction Gets $1.8 Million Central Station Contract

The company will build a stairway-elevator tower connecting the skyway to the sidewalk below.

The Metropolitan Council on Wednesday awarded Burnsville-based PCL Construction Services a $1.8 million contract to build a Central Station stairway-elevator tower.

The tower will allow people to get from the skyway spanning the Central Station in St. Paul to the Fifth Street sidewalk below it. It will be finished in time for the Central Corridor LRT (Green Line) opening in mid-2014.

“Few public entries exist into the skyway system in downtown St. Paul, making this project a benefit not only for the Green Line but also other transit riders, pedestrians and the disability community,” a release quoted Metropolitan Council Chair Sue Haigh.
