Learn to Make Czech Kolaches

Kolaches are one of Czechoslovakia's national pastires.  Kolaches are marvelous egg-rich, slightly-sweet yeast dough pastries.  Traditionally filled with fruit mixtures such as apricot, cottage cheese, poppy seed or prune, they can be shaped into small rounds, "tied packages" or filled turnovers.  We will make variations in class and taste samples.  Plan to take home a large assortment to share with family, friends or to freeze.  You will leave with many recipes, tips and techniques to master these Old World delicacies.  Better than the bakery! Tuition includes $13 for supplies!

Class is held on Saturday, October 20 at the Burnsville High School in Room G140.

Instructor Laurel Severson is a home economist with over 15 years of experience in commercial food service, recipe testing and editing.  She has been teaching cooking classes in the Twin Cities for a number of years!
