Four-Alarm Fire at Burnsville Apartment Displaces Residents

The fire quickly escalated to a "four-alarm" blaze, and all residents were evacuated. The apartment was not equipped with fire sprinklers.

Just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, the Burnsville Fire Department responded to a large structure
fire at the Pines of Burnsville apartment complex on the 1000 block of Burnsville Parkway. The fire
quickly escalated to a “four-alarm” blaze, and all residents were evacuated. No injuries were
reported, according to a news release.

Fire crews worked through the early morning to extinguish the fire from both the inside and outside
of the building. Crews are still on scene assessing the damage and monitoring for hot spots. The cause
of the fire is still under investigation. The apartment complex was not equipped with fire sprinklers.
All occupants of the apartment building have been temporarily displaced until portions of the
building can be declared safe. Early reports indicated that at least 18 units will need to remain
vacated for an extended period of time until repairs can be made.

The Minnesota branch of the American Red Cross has been called to the scene to provide resources
and assist displaced residents. Those needing assistance or who wish to help those affected can call
the Red Cross at (612) 871-7676.

“Unfortunately, the amount of damage done to the building will keep a few people and families out
of their homes for some time,” said Burnsville Fire Chief B.J. Jungmann in a statement.

“We are working closely with the Red Cross to make sure everyone is taken care of. Our thoughts go out to those impacted, and we are very thankful that no one was injured.”
