At Least One Dead After Shooting in Burnsville Dollar Tree Store
The details of the Burnsville shooting are still unknown, and the situation remains an open and active investigation.

At least one person is dead after a shooting Monday at the Burnsville Dollar Tree on Aldrich Ave. The suspect is currently in police custody.
At about 12:15 p.m., the Burnsville Police Department responded to a call about an active shooter at the Burnsville Dollar Tree (14101 Aldrich Ave.).
Officers responded to the scene and discovered two victims of gunshot wounds inside the store. Both
were transported to the hospital. The police department has learned that one victim died in the
hospital early this evening, and police are awaiting an update on the condition of the second victim, according to a news release.

Officers quickly learned that the shooter had fled the scene. Within minutes, officers identified a
vehicle at the corner of McAndrews and Nicollet in Burnsville, which was believed to be involved in
the shooting. Officers stopped the vehicle and apprehended the suspect without incident. The suspect
is currently in custody, according to police.
The details of the shooting are still unknown, and the situation remains an open and active
investigation. However, as the suspect is in custody, there is believed to be no ongoing risk to the
public, according to police.

“I would like to take a moment to express that my thoughts – the thoughts of our entire department
– and the thoughts of our entire community are with the victims of this tragic incident,” said
Burnsville Police Chief Eric Gieseke at a news conference Monday.
“We are still putting the pieces together, and while we don’t yet know the motivation of the shooting, we will be investing all of our resources to conduct a thorough investigation.”
The Burnsville Police Department states it will provide more information as it becomes available, and is asking for the patience and confidence of the community as they work through the investigation.
Because of the ongoing investigation, and out of respect for the victims, police are not yet releasing
the identities of those involved.
