Hello again from Eagan Funfest Ambassador, Cassidy Beyer.
It’s hard for me to believe my year as an Eagan Funfest Ambassador is coming to an end. Looking back over the past year I can see all the ways that I have grown and changed. I will never forget the night the crown was placed on my head and I became an official Eagan Funfest Ambassador. It was a wonderful night and to me the crown seemed to have its own magic. All of a sudden I was one of 6 members of the Eagan Ambassador royal family.
I knew the year ahead of me would be filled with lots of new and fun experiences, but I didn’t realize at the time how much I personally would benefit from my year of serving as an Ambassador. Wearing the crown not only makes me feel like a princess, it also makes me realize the significance of my role representing the Eagan Funfest and the Eagan community. When I wear the crown, I feel like I should stand a little taller and smile a little brighter as I am not just Cassidy Beyer - 11 year old 6th grader; I am Cassidy Beyer - Eagan Funfest Ambassador.
At the beginning of my year, the crown on my head reminded me of the importance of reaching out to others and becoming involved in my city. It gave me the courage to try new things and meet new people. Now that my year is coming to an end, I don’t need the crown to keep reminding me of all I gain by being an active member of my community. I have learned that by giving just a little bit of myself I can help make the world a better place for others. It may be a young child overseas who is so excited to receive the box I packed with toys during our Operation Christmas Child event. Or, it might be a homeless person in Minneapolis eating one of the 600 sandwiches we Ambassadors made in less than an hour for The Sandwich Project. Spending a little bit of my time can make a big difference in someone else’s life.
So as I prepare to pass the crown on to the next group of girls, I know some of its magic is now a part of me. I am more comfortable starting conversations with people I don’t know, I look forward to finding new ways to volunteer in my community and I will always treasure the great memories of my year as an Eagan Funfest Ambassador.
Thank you to the Eagan Funfest Ambassador committee for all they have done to make this program a reality. It has been a memorable, magical year for me. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to be involved in an organization that has helped me become a better me, while at the same time extending a helping hand to others in my community.
Always,
Cassidy Beyer
