9Round Kickboxing Opens in Eagan

Trainers on-site, no class times, total body workouts in 30 minutes

9Round, the nation’s fastest-growing kickboxing gym franchise, recently opened its Eagan location at 18595 Booker St. this past Saturday, November 8th. The new gym uses an intense 30-minute workout focused on kickboxing techniques to achieve a total body workout.

“Kickboxing training is growing in popularity for good reason. It works,” said gym owner Prabhath Perera. “Whether you are a beginner or advanced fitness level, our trainers will help you kick and punch your way to a healthier you. We look forward giving local residents the best workout they’ve ever had, minus the complicated machines or silly aerobic routines.”

Developed by reigning IKF Light Middleweight Kickboxing Champion of the World Shannon “The Cannon” Hudson, 9Round workouts consist of nine, three-minute stations of activities that include cardio, weight training, abdominal exercises and kicks and punches on 100-pound, double-end, upper cut and speed bags. A real boxing bell rings to begin the workout, another to warn the station is ending and a third to signal the end. Members have a 30-second active break between rounds, which means doing small workouts with bags, as well as sit-ups and push-ups.

There are no class times, trainers are always on site, and routines change daily, giving members a fresh workout every time they come in.

Perera, a father and athlete who’s been training in cycling and tennis for the last several years, wanted to share his passion for health and fitness within the community he lives in. He is confident that 9Round will help its members lead a healthy lifestyle effectively and conveniently.

“Everything is total body. At one station members might do 20 front kicks and 20 push-ups in three minutes. The next day, they might do 20 hooks and 10 jump squats at that station,” Perera said. “We bring these things to the average person, so they feel like a real fighter, like they’re doing something Muhammad Ali would have done.”

9Round of Eagan is open Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am - 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm - 8:00 pm; Friday, 8:30 am - 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm; and Saturday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. The gym is closed on Sundays.
