After 26 Years, Eagan Family's Search for Missing Son Continues

Christopher Kerze disappeared from Eagan in 1990. A letter from Chris arrived soon after, but he hasn't been heard from since.

After nearly 27 years, the details of what happened after Jacob Wetterling was abducted in St. Joseph, Minnesota finally came out. Now, families of other missing children are hoping they may get answers, including two parents from Eagan.

Christopher Kerze disappeared from his family's home in Eagan in 1990 and hasn't been seen since. His parents have never given up hope that he would one day return.

The last time Loni and Jim Kerze saw their son was April 20, 1990, kaaltv reported. Jim and Loni left in the morning, but Chris, then 17, said he was sick and stayed home from school. When Jim and Loni returned, Chris and the family's van were gone.

Soon after Chris was reported missing, the van was found north of Grand Rapids on Highway 38, more than 200 miles away from the family's home in Eagan.

Then a letter from Chris arrived from Duluth. "That was his last communication with us," Jim told kaaltv. "And basically it said I'm not coming home."

Jim and Loni started receiving phone calls in which they could hear background noise, but no voice on the other end. Chris' best friend, a neighbor, was receiving similar calls.

The Eagan Police Department recently returned to the Grand Rapids area to hand out a new flyer from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with a picture of what Chris might look like today.
