Ambassadors Recruit Candidates and Get Crafty

Eagan Funfest Ambassador Lilly Briody Blogs about Latest Ambassador Activities

Hello everyone! Lilly Briody, Eagan Funfest Ambassador, back with another blog post! There have been two different things that have happened recently. First, last Friday on January 22, we found out we would be hanging posters to recruit new candidates. We all got 27 posters that we were required to hang. First, we had to go around to the different businesses in Eagan and we asked if we could hang up a poster. Most of the businesses were super nice and let us hang up the posters. A couple of them couldn’t because of store policies, but that was okay. The next thing we had to do was go hang the posters up in a different city. This year for the first time Eagan is opening up the chance to be a candidate for Funfest Ambassador to other cities. The cities include Apple Valley, Burnsville, Mendota, Mendota Heights, Rosemount, and Sunfish Lake. We were each assigned a different city to hang up the rest of our posters. I was assigned Mendota. Now Mendota is pretty small so I only got two places which were Axels and Lucky 13. I’m going to keep trying to find more though. The other thing I wanted to talk about was going to Color Me Mine. We went on Monday, which was January 25. It was a lot of fun because we were painting bowls to give to the Open Door, which is the food shelf in Eagan. There is going to be an event called Empty Bowls where people pay about $20 for the bowls we painted, and the money will go to the Open Door. They can also have soup and bread at the event. We all had a lot of fun painting the bowls and two past Ambassadors came to help out also. One of the ambassadors Megan, her bowl was amazing! I am not a very artistic person and Megan’s bowl was gorgeous! She drew a flower in the inside of the bowl and then drew leaves and vines going out onto the side of the bowl. Leah put night and day on here bowl. Half of it was black with stars and a moon, and the other half was yellow and bright with a sun. Sylvia’s bowl had kind of an ombre affect. She taped parts off so it looked like triangles, and then the other parts were the blue ombre. Ashley Harwell’s bowl was painted red. Then she painted on a few green leaves along the outer side. Ashley McCann’s was painted pink, purple, and white. She sponged it on so the colors all blended together and it was pretty cool. For my bowl, I painted the inside a light blue and the outside a light purple. I painted the rim around the bowl a red and sponged on red polka dots on the inside. As you can see, we have had a couple very busy days. That’s it for this blog. Thanks for reading! Lilly Briody Eagan Funfest Ambassador 2015-2016.
