EAGAN, MN — Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray has cleared the concussion protocol and will start Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, head coach Kevin O'Connell announced Monday.
The update comes a day after Carson Wentz started Minnesota's 9-3 win over the Chicago Bears at soggy Soldier Field.
Wentz made his 100th career start, went 11-for-20 for 143 yards and improved to 5-0 as a starter against the Bears.
Outside linebacker Dallas Turner sealed the win by sacking backup quarterback Tyson Bagent on the final snap, powering past tight end Colston Loveland on fourth-and-2 from the Chicago 12 after officials ruled one second remained. It was Turner's second sack of the game, and he added five tackles and four quarterback hits.
Minnesota's defense also kept Chicago scoreless on three trips inside the Vikings' 20-yard line. Isaiah Rodgers recovered a fumble at the 1-yard line after Jalen Redmond knocked the ball from D'Andre Swift, and Rodgers later blocked a field goal that would have tied the game at 6 with 6:21 left. Byron Murphy Jr. intercepted a pass in the first half.
Bears starter Caleb Williams left the game on a cart in the fourth quarter after going down while scrambling from pressure by Andrew Van Ginkel. He finished 15-of-26 for 138 yards and an interception.
Aaron Jones Sr. ran 23 times for 105 yards and passed 1,000 career rushing yards against Chicago, becoming the seventh player in history to do so. Will Reichard kicked field goals of 35, 49 and 39 yards to account for all of Minnesota's points.
The win was Minnesota's seventh in a row in Chicago and put the Vikings at 2-0 against division opponents for the first time since 2003 after beating the Packers.
Minnesota fans can catch Sunday's game on FOX, with kickoff set for 3:05 p.m. Central at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
The Vikings will face a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that is 0-2 for the first time since 2014.
Tampa Bay dropped its home opener 23-19 to the Cleveland Browns.
