MINNEAPOLIS, MN — J.J. McCarthy's time with the Minnesota Vikings is over.
The Vikings are trading the young quarterback to the New York Giants, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday on X, adding in a follow-up post that Minnesota will receive a 2027 fifth-round draft pick in the deal.
The return is a steep drop from what the Vikings invested in McCarthy, who they selected out of Michigan with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Giants were in the market for a quarterback after starter Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury last week, which Giants coach John Harbaugh said will sideline him for the rest of the regular season.
