Auction to Sell Off Old Northwest Airlines Equipment from Eagan Facility
Before the Minnesota Vikings can move into their new home in Eagan, a few items, including a flight simulator, have got to go.
Are you in need of a professional flight simulator? You're in luck. The Minnesota Vikings have purchased Eagan property previously occupied by Northwest Airlines (NWA), and as a result, officials are auctioning off tools, office equipment, flight simulators, HVAC, building salvage, and other items previously owned by the airline.
The property will be the site for the new Vikings headquarters and practice facility, scheduled to open spring 2018. The old NWA building is set to be demolished to make way for the redevelopment. The building closed in 2012, after NWA was absorbed by Delta Airlines.
WCCO reported that the 300,000 square foot building used to be filled with the hustle and bustle of pilot training.

The facility has sat quiet and empty since it closed, and many items were left behind.
“A few years ago when it was extremely active and busy there was a lot of buzz around here,” auctioneer Paul McCartan said. McCartan is in charge of clearing out all of the old items from the building.

In July, the Eagan City Council approved five motions that will result in a 200-acre redevelopment of the property that will include office and retail space, a hotel, residential housing and public green space.
