BLOG: Half a Decade

On my birthday, talking about the difference 5 years makes.

Happy 35th birthday to me!

Yep... I'm midway through a decade... 5 more years to 40.

I was pregnant with my son "L".

I was at least 80 pounds heavier.

I didn't move my body more than from the couch to the fridge and back.

I wore a size 24.

I couldn't shop in "regular" stores.

I didn't fit in an airplane seat.

I didn't know what it meant to be a mom.

I didn't care about what I put in my mouth.

Today...

I'm not pregnant (yes, do cheer)!!

I'm at least 80 lbs. lighter and getting lighter again by the week.

I ran 4 times last week and 2 times this week so far.  I've run two 5K races in the last two years.

I wear a size 14—hoping to get back into my 8s by the time Lily is one year old.

I shopped at Nordstroms, LOFT, and Macy's today!

I'm comfortable in an airplane seat.

There isn't a day that goes by where I don't worry about and love my kids.  I agonize daily over doing the right things for my them.

Today I did splurge on a maple bar and some Ben and Jerry's ice cream, but I rejected some potato salad because I just couldn't handle the 17 grams of fat per 1/2 cup of it, and I only ate a couple of bites of the cake that I was given for free at lunch, because it just wasn't a "10".

So maybe being a half a decade older isn't so bad.  It has certainly made me wiser, made me smaller, and given me two beautiful children!
