Businesses, Stores That Closed In Minnesota: 2018 List

MINNESOTA — With 2018 coming to a close, it's worth looking at the stores, restaurants, retailers, and other businesses that closed up shop for good this year. Some closures impacted only one location, while others impacted an entire chain.

Here are some of the most notable closures of 2018:

Target: Minneapolis-based Target closed its locations in Fergus Falls and Hastings this year. Target is also planning to close its Brooklyn Center store in 2019 due to poor sales.

Victoria's Secret: After 10 years, the Victoria's Secret store in the heart of Uptown closed in January.

Lowe's will be closing its location in Mankato at 2015 Bassett Drive by Feb. 1, 2019.

Brookstone: In August, Brookstone filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and plans to close all of its remaining mall locations, including two in the Twin Cities

Toys R Us: In June, Toys R Us closed its 200 remaining stores, including five in Minnesota.

Movies on 35th Street, which has been around for 15 years, closed up shop this year.

The Stillwater Leeann Chins location (1840 Market Dr) was shuttered in May.

Sears stores that closed are will close:

• Sears, Shingle Creek Crossing — Brooklyn Center
• Kmart, 215 North Central Avenue — Duluth
• Sears, Miller Hill Mall — Duluth
• Sears, 425 Rice St — St. Paul
• Sears, 12431 Wayzata Blvd — Minnetonka

The Journal newspaper — formerly known as "The Downtown Journal" and "The Skyway News" — will cease publication this month (December 2018).

Burger King: 9 Minnesota Burger King Restaurants Abruptly Shuttered

• Heyday, Minneapolis
• AZ/Mex, Minneapolis
• 510 Lounge, Minneapolis
