Eagan Begins Work on City's Outdoor Skating Rinks

With cold temperatures setting in, Eagan parks and recreation crews have begun flooding the city's outdoor skating rinks. Work will continue to get the rinks ready for skating over the next two weeks.

The opening day for skating is slated for Dec. 23 at 4 p.m., according to city officials.

For rink information, call the recreation hotline at (651) 675-5511 and select option no. 3 for outdoor ice rinks and the Trapp Farm Tubing Hill. The hotline is typically updated one hour prior to opening times and updated throughout the day if weather and site conditions change. Sites may be closed and programs cancelled, if any of the following weather and ice conditions occur:

• The temperature is 10 degrees below or colder.
• The wind-chill index is 15 degrees below or colder, per the National Weather Service
• Snow or ice has accumulated to the point where it can not be cleared by city staff
• Warm temperatures cause significant melting on the rinks or tubing hill

• Woodhaven on Gold Trail east of Cedar Grove Parkway
