It was Thursday, August 8th. I was at a picnic located by the Eagan Resource Center .Me and the other Eagan Ambassadors (Julia, Katherine, Karina, Ashlyn, and Sarah) were doing things that needed to be done. For example, some people handled the food or the bouncy house while others got drinks for our guests, supervising a raffle, or a salsa contest. After a fun and exhausting shift, we cleaned up a little bit. We talked about the things we did and what we liked the best. Soon dark clouds rolled in and thunder crashed. BANG! CRASH! Everyone hitched a ride home except Katherine and I. We hurried inside the Resource Center while holding our crowns on. As soon as we got inside, the rain poured! Good thing one of the workers and someone from the Ambassador program were there! It was a severe thunder storm! We hurried into the basement to find the emergency kit. We turned on a flashlight and looked around. This place seems creepy at night I thought. Katherine and I took turns calling our parents. Katherine’s were on their way. Mine….mine weren’t at home. I thought something had happened to them. We waited until the storm died down to go upstairs. I was so relieved to see my mom get out of the car. I took off my shoes so they wouldn’t get wet and stuffed them in my shirt. As Katherine was cheering me on, I hopped over the quarter sized hail and the cold muddy puddles. As I was hopping, I had a smile on my face because even in bad times, at least one Ambassador comes around and makes my day.
