Ambassador Avery Reports on Open Door Empty Bowls Fundraiser
Hello Eagan, it’s Avery again.
This past month we volunteered at Empty Bowls at St. John Neumann which was a fundraiser for The Open Door. It was a great event! Potters donated their time and talent making beautiful pottery bowls. For a $10.00 donation you could choose your very own bowl and volunteers filled it with delicious hot soup. When I first got there I went straight to work washing bowls for people who had just finished their meals so that they could take home their new bowls clean. Doing that gave me the opportunity to look at a lot of the cool and unique bowls that people had lovingly chosen to be theirs forever. Along with washing bowls I also went around and chatted with people at their tables. That was great fun because it was very nice to see what kind of personalities chose what bowls. Nearing the end of the night it was my turn to go and get something to eat. Picking out my bowl was a very long process as they were all so beautiful but I settled on a thin grey one with a brush of rose glaze on the outside. I finished off with some delicious Italian soup and by then the event was over. I am very happy with my bowl and I am also really happy that I got a chance to help people. Thanks for reading!
