Eagan Funfest Ambassadors Volunteer Ringing the Bell

Ambassador Madeline Cherel Describes Cold Day with Warm Support for the Salvation Army

On a freezing, cold, December day, four ambassadors set out for Cub Foods in Eagan, Minnesota all bundled up in their scarves, hats, and mittens. Their challenge, to ring a bell for donations. But not just any bell, a Salvation Army bell. Lauren was the first to arrive, followed by Madeline, Aaron, and Jillian.

The day started off easy. The wind wasn't bad at all and we were still warm and toasty. Lauren and Aaron stood by the entrance of the store. Jillian and I stood by the exit. We got lots donations, and had finally mastered the art of bell ringing. The chaperones played Christmas music for us ambassadors to dance around to so we wouldn't get to cold.

Halfway though the event, I wished I had worn warmer socks. It was nineteen degrees outside but it felt like zero degrees. I wanted to warm up, so I stood inside the two sliding doors and thawed out my ice cold face and fingers. An employee came outside and gave us chocolate cake! And that's not all! Not even five minutes later she came back and gave us cookies and juice.

The event slowly came to an end. Afterwards, I felt even more excited for Christmas than before.
