Eagan Shooting: Security Guard Kills Alleged Robber

One man is dead after a security guard in Eagan told police he was assaulted by another man armed with a gun.

One man is dead after a security guard in Eagan told police he was assaulted by another man armed with a gun. The guard shot and killed the armed suspect.

On Dec. 5 at 12:08 a.m., Eagan police officers responded to the 900 block of Aldrin Drive for a security guard stating he had just shot somebody who had attempted to rob him. Officers responded and found an adult male dead from an apparent gunshot wound, according to a news release.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an armed security officer working in the area was attacked by an adult male with a gun.

During the confrontation, the security officer shot and killed the suspect, according to police. The security officer sustained minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Eagan Police Department is investigating the details surrounding the shooting and will provided updates as more details become available.
