Eagan Mother Of 2 Dies After Crash Involving Semi
A preliminary investigation revealed the semi ran a red light, authorities said.

EAGAN, MN — An Eagan mother of two has passed away from injuries suffered during an August crash. Alayna Marie Tanaka was driving an SUV that was hit by a semi Aug. 13 in Eagan.
A preliminary investigation revealed the semi was traveling west on Cliff Road and ran a red light, striking the SUV on its left side, authorities said. Tanaka was initially hospitalized at Regions Hospital and listed in critical condition.

In early October, Tanaka was moved into hospice care. She died Thursday.

"Alayna passed away this afternoon," Alayna's husband, Wesley, wrote on CaringBridge.
"In that final moment she was surrounded by myself, our kids Ruth and Henry, and other family members close to her."
