Four Ways to Re-Organize your Office for Summer!

It’s no surprise that this summer has gotten off to a slow start. Between the never ending winter of 2013 and the constant rain, it has not been the most motivating start to our summer season. In the midst of all of our bummer weather, your office might have skipped the annual spring cleaning. Now that the weather is FINALLY heating up, you might want to take a couple minutes to do that reorganization that we breezed by a month ago. Just a few organization changes can make a huge difference and will hopefully get you fully prepared to have a productive and successful summer!

1. If you don’t use it every day, get it off your desk.

You know what I mean… That promotional laser pointer you haven’t touched since you put it there, those big plastic sunglasses your boss put on your desk for your birthday, and that reminder post-it you stuck there in 2009… Come on guys. Its time you part ways with all of that beloved junk. Find a better home for it where it won’t clutter your workspace! By cleaning off your desk space you will open up all of your creative room and you will be pleasantly surprised at how much better you feel.

2. Out with the old, in with the new!

When you first moved in to your office, did you pin a “good luck on your first day” note from your family on your bulletin board? How about a welcome card from your new co-workers? What are the chances you have your first of four “employee of the month” certificates hanging up? While all of these things are nice memories, I think it’s time to put those away, and start displaying some of your more recent achievements! Make room for some new memories and kick off the summer reminding yourself of how far you have come.

3. Get your DIY on!

I will be the first to admit, I am the queen of pinning all kinds of “Do It Yourself” projects for the office and never even attempting them. This is the summer where that all changes! Next time you have a free hour or two on the weekend, tackle that project you have been dying to try since you saw it on Pinterest three months ago. Whether it’s a photo collage, rhinestone cord holder, or hand painted mug, these projects will get your creative juices flowing and inspire you to apply your creativity to your work projects!

4. Shake it up

Don’t be afraid to shift your office furniture around and rearrange your office! Move your bulletin board to a different wall or shift your desk to face the other side of the room. Re-arranging will change up your scenery and make you feel like you are in a whole new space. Who knows, it could be just the change you need to increase your emailing speed ten times over! The possibilities are endless:)

We wish all of our readers a happy and healthy summer and hope that these helpful hints will make your summer the most productive one yet. Let us know what kind of organization tricks you have for your office and what has been the most effective for you! Thanks so much for reading!
