Where/When: (1340 Wescott Rd, Eagan, MN 55123) on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Why go: Bring your kids into the library to read to certified therapy dogs. It's not only fun, but it also helps develop their reading skills and fluency.

Where/When: Fort Snelling State Park (Post Road to Hwy 5 exit - follow signs, St Paul, MN) on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. 

Why Go: The night has a thousand eyes - and many of them belong to owls. What's with those big eyes - are owls really that wise? Give a hoot and join us at the Thomas Savage Visitor Center to see how owls find their food on dark, stormy and cold nights. A walk to find resident owls will follow, dress for the weather.

Where/ When: State Capitol (75 Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Saint Paul, MN 55155)

Why go: Opportunity to go on a self-guided scavenger hunt to discover 12 beautiful and important decorations in the State Capitol building. Each self-guided booklet includes a set of 12 gold stars that are placed next to the corresponding photographs when the item is discovered. At the end of the hunt, visitors are awarded a gold state seal, get Capitol architect Cass Gilbert's signature and become Junior Art Historians.

Price: $2 per booklet

Where/When: (860 Cliff Rd, Eagan, MN 55123) on Sunday, Feb. 13 from 2 p.m. –4 p.m.

Why go: Learn the basics of classic-style cross-country skiing. Equipment is provided. This event is for ages 15 and older, and registration is required.

Price: $25

5. Tubing at Trapp Farm Park

Where/When: Located on Wilderness Run Road between Dodd Road and Lexington Avenue ... Open Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 8 p.m.

Why go: It's a fun way to spend time with friends and family tubing down the hill at Trapp Farm Park.

Price: It costs $2.75 per person and children under 42" sharing a tube with an adult are free. A 10-visit punch card is available for $22.50.
