Heartbeat Performing Arts Studio Sponsor for Ambassador

Hi there, Genesis Scott here. Today I’m going to be sharing about my sponsor and their business, Heartbeat Performing Arts Studio located in Apple Valley, MN.

Deb, the owner of Heartbeat, has been teaching amazing classes for almost 50 years. Her love for teaching is still running strong! With that many years of teaching there has been many memory’s made. Her biggest accomplishment was opening up their Apple Valley studio in 1998. Offering a variety of classes, such as, jazz, ballet, modern, hip-hop, hula, tap, break dance, just to name a few. But dance isn’t all they do! Choir and acting/performing arts is also a big part of their programming. I am personally a second year acting and ballet student and added jazz this year!

There are many eager students, and that is something Deb has very much enjoyed over the years- the dedication of her students. Of course with her journey she has had lots of role models, and influencers including Gregory Hines, Dianne Walker, Jojo Smith, and Jason Samuels Smith. Even though they’re each famous in their dance specialties, Deb has danced with them all and had most of them perform in shows with Heartbeat. Deb and daughter Kristin like to describe their classes as fun, exiting, and fun filled (as a current student, I completely agree!)

With all the fun going on around the studio it wouldn’t be complete without music! Most of Heartbeats music is based on what show they are offering or music that is inspiring to the instructors. Next June, the big end of year production will be Harry Potter! I invite you all to come check it out.

If you ask Deb about her second love, it would be, without question, her DOGS! Deb currently has 2 dogs; a girl who is 8 years old and a boy who is 13. You can often find them hanging out at the studio in Deb’s office. They are so friendly! Along with her two adorable pets, Deb has other hobbies but her favorite is writing. She says her writing helps her in dancing and choreographing. With so many classes on her plate she lives by the quote, “In order to be real, dance must come from the heart.”

Fun fact: My Aunt Elizabeth, (Izzy) used to dance at Heartbeat throughout middle and high school!
