Eagan, MN – City officials and hospitality professionals were welcomed by representatives from Wheelhouse Capital, LLC last Friday afternoon to celebrate the groundbreaking of Eagan’s new Holiday Inn Express & Suites located adjacent to Wheelhouse Capital’s sister property, the Best Western Plus Dakota Ridge.

Mike Berkopec, Business Manager from Wheelhouse Capital - the company developing, financing and managing the new Holiday Inn Express hotel - kicked off the ceremony by welcoming the attendees and talking about the excitement that’s up ahead for the new hotel. Principal at Wheelhouse Capital, Andy Schweizer, and City of Eagan Councilmember Gary Hansen also spoke to the crowd. Lastly, Brent Cory, President and CEO of the Eagan Convention and Visitors Bureau shared his enthusiasm about the new addition slated to join Eagan’s growing hotel lineup.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites will be the first new hotel to open in Eagan since the Country Inn & Suites in 2002. It is being built on the site of the former Al Baker’s Restaurant and will hold 93 rooms, bringing Eagan’s total hotel inventory up to nearly 1,650 rooms. 19 of the 93 rooms in Holiday Inn Express will be spacious suites dispersed among the four floors. Along with a first floor lobby great room, community tables and private spaces, an indoor pool and outdoor patio, the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites will be demonstrating its slogan of “Relax, recharge, refuel and reconnect.”
