Love Your Neighbor Day on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 10am-12pm

Advent UMC and Mount Calvary partner to give back to the community

Advent United Methodist Church is pleased to partner with Mount Calvary Lutheran Church this year as our 8th Annual Advent Cares Day transitions to Love Your Neighbor Day. Both Advent UMC and Mount Calvary have been a part of the Eagan community for 40 years. To give back to the community, Love Your Neighbor Day will be held on Saturday, October 10, from 10am-noon with supplies being collected for local non-profits and elementary schools.

Advent UMC will host a shredding event. Two paper grocery bags-worth of document shredding, per person, are free. Personal shredding only, no businesses. It’s free, but donations of money will be accepted. Advent will also be collecting the following supplies to benefit 360 Communities:

  • Disinfecting wipes
  • Pancake syrup
  • Baby wipes
  • Snacks - granola bars, crackers, goldfish, cookies, etc.
  • Household cleaning supplies
  • Personal care items - shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, feminine hygiene items, etc.

Mount Calvary Lutheran will be accepting the following donations for The Open Door:

  • 15-oz tomato sauce & diced tomatoes
  • Vegetable oil: 16 - 48 oz bottles
  • 100% fruit juice: 64 oz bottles
  • Apple sauce & mandarin oranges
  • Peanut butter

Both Advent UMC and Mount Calvary Lutheran will be also collecting the following school supplies for Rahn Elementary and Northview Elementary:

  • Crayons
  • Crayola markers (thick, 8 count)
  • Glue sticks and jumbo glue sticks
  • Colored pencils
  • Highlighters
  • Pocket folders (plain)
  • Ziploc bags (gallon or sandwich size)
  • Kleenex
