McDonald’s To Raise Money For Late Eagan Teacher's Family

The 41-year-old Eagan High School teacher was running a race in northern Minnesota before he collapsed and died May 20.

EAGAN, MN — The McDonald’s restaurant at Lexington Avenue and Diffley Road in Eagan is hosting a fundraiser for the family of an Eagan High School teacher who died while running a race this year. Jon Mathson, 41, was a participant of the Superior Spring Trail Race when he died on Saturday, May 20.

Mathson had been teaching at EHS since 2007. He taught Physical Earth Science for 9th grade and Chemistry Fundamentals for 11th and 12th grade.

Tom and Kay Butler, who own the Diffley Road McDonald’s, will donate 25 percent of their sales from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday to the Mathson family, the Pioneer Press reported.
