Matt Little Projected To Win Minnesota's 2nd District Democratic Primary

EAGAN, MN — Matt Little is projected to win Tuesday's Democratic primary in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District, according to the Associated Press, positioning him to run for the seat U.S. Rep. Angie Craig is vacating to run for Senate.

Little, a former Lakeville mayor and state senator, won the DFL's endorsement at the party's convention in May with 63 percent of delegate support on the first ballot.

Klein, a Mayo Clinic physician, ran without seeking the party's backing and positioned himself as the more moderate candidate in the race.

Berg stayed in after the convention, campaigning on her experience as a mother and flight attendant.

The district, which covers the southern Twin Cities suburbs and stretches into rural communities in Dakota, Scott and Le Sueur counties, is considered a battleground. Democrats hold a narrow edge on paper, but Republicans controlled the seat for about 19 years before Craig flipped it in 2018.

Little will face Eric Pratt, the Republican Party's endorsed candidate, who is running unopposed, in November's general election.
