MnDOT To Host 'Minnesota Drone Day' In Eagan
The event is open to current and aspiring drone pilots of all ages and experience levels.

EAGAN, MN — The Minnesota Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration, the Minnesota Drone Advocacy Council and the Minnesota Autonomous Vehicle Meetup group, are presenting the first Minnesota Drone Day May 5 at the Blackhawk Middle School in Eagan, Minn.
The event, held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is open to current and aspiring drone pilots of all ages and experience levels. Admission is free.
Kevin Morris from the FAA will discuss the types of drone operations allowed in the National Airspace System, including the corresponding regulations, requirements and best practices.

There will be a Q&A session immediately after the presentation.
Air Bears, a non-profit search and rescue operation, will provide a flight simulator at the event and give drone demonstrations outdoors.

Other sessions will provide participants with hands-on experience with:
- Drone technology
- Competitive racing
- First-person view flying (video piloting)
