National Night Out with an Eagan Funfest Ambassador

Funfest Ambassador Megan Abagat Reports on Volunteer Activity at the Open Door

National Night Out Event: On August 4th we went to the National Night Out Event at the Open Door Food Shelf. It was fantastically busy, but yet very fun. When I finally made it to the event my first duty was to clean the tables. It was very interesting, because I wasn’t really expecting to actually clean. My next job was to watch the bouncy house, and count how many children were inside. I went with Ashley H. and at first it was really ‘quiet’, and what I mean is that it was empty, but then it went fully into a power house. Children went in and out, and some went out and then came back in about five minutes or so. So the pattern repeated itself on and off, and then it almost overloaded. The bouncy house was filled with so many children that we could barely see what was happening inside, but then the savior arrived. Well what really happened was that the police came to stop by, and we both announced that the police arrived inside the house. The exit was packed with all the children running to the police to greet them. After all of the hard work all of us got a free pass to go inside the bouncy house and the obstacle course. In the end of it I truly loved meeting all the children and their neighbors and friends. Megan Abagat 2015 - 2016 Eagan Funfest Ambassador
