Primrose School of Eagan match weight of Kindergarten class in food donations
Primrose School of Eagan community values, character development, caring and giving

Household chores paid off as local Primrose School of Eagan preschoolers and Kindergarteners raised $676 to donate food to help serve a holiday feast to Eagan area families. How much food were they able to purchase and gather? Kindergarteners were amazed when the weight of their food donations and purchases with their earned money exceeded the weight of their classmates at 682.5 pounds! Students earned money by completing extra chores at home, combined their earnings, and then counted them in the classroom. They created detailed shopping lists and took a field trip to Kowalski’s Market to shop for local families in need.
Giving back to the community was a major focus of this annual food drive, as well as a key component of the Primrose Schools Balanced Learning system, which blends teacher-directed and child-initiated activities with special emphasis on character development. The Caring and Giving program is a nationwide initiative, with participation from more than 300 Primrose Schools across the country to help studets understand the value of generosity with hands-on application of math, nutrition and planning skills.
