The Reign Begins for New Eagan Funfest Ambassadors

Hello everyone, I am Lauren Foss, one of your 2017-2018 Eagan Funfest Ambassadors. I am so excited to be given the opportunity to represent the wonderful city of Eagan this year! So far, my fellow ambassadors and I have attended many events and appearances. I can tell this is going to be an amazing year! But, let’s go back to the night it all began.

On July 10, 2017, I sat in a seat alongside 6 other worthy candidates all awaiting our fate. I remember being called on to stage to answer the scary fishbowl question. Walking on to stage was nerve racking, but seeing all the people smiling up at me made me remember that no matter what happened I tried. So, I answered my question and took my seat. When it came time to crown the new ambassadors, I watched 4 amazing people walk up on to stage. I remained in my seat next to 2 other worthy candidates, all of us waiting to hear the name of the last ambassador to be called. When they called my name I couldn’t believe it! My whole life changed in the blink of an eye! I was so overwhelmed with emotions I even forgot my flower! Although being called last was scary, it was worth every second! After crowning it was picture after picture. We met so many new people and I’m so excited to get to know everyone better!

After coronation we went straight into being ambassadors! From smiling on top of floats, to helping out around the community, it has been eventful! But, one of my favorite events so far has been the Movie in the Park! Well… more like Movie in the Community Center, but close enough! Anyway, once we arrived we helped set everything up for all the kids to come. When kids arrived we colored pictures, made troll hair out of a headband and tulle, and finally watched the movie! Helping all the kids create their own troll hair was so much fun! Decorating with flowers was a definite bonus! All the hair styles were so different and creative! It was amazing to see all the different ways the kids made their hair unique! We also played yard games like connect 4, checkers, and hula hooping! It was a blast! But, the best part of all was sitting down, eating some popcorn, and watching the movie with everyone!

In the end, I need to thank my parents for allowing me to follow my dreams! I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. I’d also like to thank Complete Family Eyecare! I wouldn’t be an ambassador without their sponsorship! I am so honored to represent Eagan and can’t wait to see what lies ahead!
