Over this past summer I have had the displeasure of seeing the lack of respect that those driving through neighborhoods have for the residents who live there. Last weekend my daughter who is 6 was almost hit while riding her bike on Oak Cliff Dr. Thankfully the driver was going under the speed limit. I understand that we as parents need to make sure that kids know the rules and pay attention and our watching our kids...there were numerous parents present but could not yell fast enough. Two of us have gone ahead and purchased those "slow man" that we put out when our kids are playing. It has made a difference. I just don't understand why some in my neighborhood feel the need to turn the corner and accelerate to their home which is a half a block away. I just ask that people be more aware when driving in our neighborhoods so we don't have any of our kids not make it to the next school year.
