Minnesota is not known for palm trees, tropical beaches or fruity drinks with cutesy names attached to them. But, if you were to ask anyone across the country what they do know about our fine state (and us), a few of the descriptions you’re bound to hear are: The winters are cold; They have tons of beautiful lakes, and; The people have that little thing called 'Minnesota Nice' going for them.
Well folks, after another brutally cold winter, the snow has melted, we can launch our boats out onto the lakes again and 'Minnesota Nice' was alive and well at the Diffley Square Spring Fling on Friday.
This free family event was sponsored by Diffley Square and The American Red Cross and offered plenty of opportunities to visit businessowners and taste free samples of wine, courtesy of Diffley Liquors, and spicy meats provided by Hildalgo’s Market.

“We’ve owned the shopping center for about 15 years, but this is the first year for the Diffley Square Spring Fling,” said the shopping center’s co-owner Maggie Linvill of Linvill Properties. “This is a very ‘community-minded’ area and we thought it would be a great way to kick off the summer—hosting a community event!”

Lars Mikkelson, the supervisor of the American Red Cross blood drive mobile at Diffley Square said that they usually have between 26-40 people sign up to donate blood.
A bus full of donors—and more waiting outside—indicated that Friday's effort to help refill the blood bank was a hit. But if you think you missed your chance to donate, don't worry. Simply call the American Red Cross and find out where and when the next donation will take place.
Although the weather didn't cooperate as much as everyone had hoped, guests were heartily welcomed inside the businesses to check them out.
With something for everyone, this event offered a great reason to get outside, enjoy some freebies and meet some of your business neighbors right here in Eagan.
