The millionaire needs to start paying more than the bus driver
Everyone knows that President Johnson’s Great Society initiative was a failure. We recognize that welfare does not empower people. It enslaves them in a state of dependency that became very costly for the rest of us. So we switched to a capitalist model under President Reagan’s trickle down economic policies. Of course President Reagan also promised us that the person making over a million dollars would pay more in taxes than the bus driver. That never happened. The rich are still getting richer and poor are still getting poorer. We are now beginning to realize that the capitalist model is also a failure. Welfare works for the very poor. Capitalism works for the very rich. Neither extreme works well for the majority.
