Drunk Gun Owner, iPhone Robbery and Bra Theft: Blotter

Weapons offense

• At 6:42 p.m. Oct. 26, officers went to a crash near the intersection of Technology Drive and Prairie Center Drive. They arrived to find two vehicles stopped in the right turn lane on southbound Prairie Center Drive. Both had damage, and the drivers said a third driver left without providing his insurance; he said he would wait in the lot at the SouthWest Transit station. He was leaving when officers arrived. They stopped the man, a 44-year-old from Prior Lake, and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He told officers he had a gun in the center console and he had a permit to carry it. Officers found the loaded gun, as well as an “automatic knife,” commonly called a switchblade. The man also faces charges of carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, possession of an automatic knife, hit and run, careless driving and inattentive driving.

Robbery

• A 36-year-old Eden Prairie woman told police she was talking on her cell phone as she was leaving the library at 2:40 p.m. Oct. 28 when a boy ran up and grabbed the phone, a $600 iPhone 4S. Officers took a 15-year-old boy into custody.

Theft

• At 10 p.m. Oct. 27, officers went to Prairie Center Drive, near the intersection of Interstate 494, following a report of a crash with injury. While there, a police dog indicated on a vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and found a stolen license plate. They arrested the driver, a 19-year-old Brooklyn Park man, on suspicion of possessing stolen property and failure to yield.
• Victoria’s Secret employees told police at 8:22 p.m. Oct. 25 they saw a woman take a perfume bottle and conceal it. A short time later two women, including the one suspected of taking the perfume, went back to the store and tried to return the perfume and two sleep shirts, worth $94 total. Officers ticketed a 21-year-old Brooklyn Center woman for theft.
• At 3:35 p.m., Walmart employees reported they saw two people concealing multiple health and beauty items and a bra in a purse. They went to the cash register and paid for other items but did not pay for the items they concealed. Officers ticketed a 19-year-old Shakopee woman for theft. The other person was a 17-year-old girl.
