Rep. Selcer does not support legislative pay increase
The Minnesota State Senate has approved a measure to increase legislator salaries. I do not support raising legislative pay and will work to oppose this increase.
To the editor:
The Minnesota State Senate has approved a measure to increase legislator salaries. I do not support raising legislative pay and will work to oppose this increase. The Minnesota House has not introduced a similar provision, and therefore it is unlikely that this measure will move forward.
Our state’s finances are in need of serious improvement before we consider raising legislative pay. We owe our schools $854 million and have a budget shortfall of $627 million. I have authored a bill to begin to repay our schools and will be focusing my attention on job creation, economic development and education proposals.

Minnesota’s legislature is part-time and this should be a factor in determining salaries. I ran for public office to serve our community and intend to continue to work on bipartisan measures that benefit Minnetonka and Eden Prairie residents and businesses. It is a privilege to serve our community at the Capitol. Please contact me anytime with your input by phone at 651-297-9001 or by email at rep.yvonne.selcer@house.mn. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
