Conservation Contest Encourages Residents to Save Water
Eden Prairie was a first-place winner last year.

Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens is challenging residents to show off Eden Prairie’s care for the environment by participating in the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation, according to the city.
The Wyland Foundation organizes the contest every year as a friendly competition between cities across the nation to see who can be the most water wise.
Throughout April, residents can make a series of online pledges at mywaterpledge.com on behalf of Eden Prairie. The pledges mention conservation measures for homes, yards and cars.

In 2012, Eden Prairie placed first in the Midwest region because it had the highest percentage of residents taking the pledge among cities in the 30,001–100,000 population category.
Participants in the winning cities can also qualify for prizes—including a Toyota Prius, Lowe’s gift cards and water-saving systems. Residents can get ideas for ways to conserve water on the mywaterpledge.com website and on the “Living Green” section of the City’s website.
