Eden Prairie Student on 2nd Place Experimental Vehicle Team

Eden Prairie teen Jack Ryan was part of a Saint Thomas Academy Experimental Vehicle Team that placed second in the battery/electric vehicles at the 2013 Shell Eco-Marathon Americas competition, Saint Thomas Academy announced Thursday.
The competition took place April 5 though 7 in Houston. Saint Thomas Academy’s car went 74 miles on a dime’s worth of electricity—118.4 kilowatts per kilowatt hour or 2,500 miles per gallon of gasoline.
Ryan was one of the prototype car drivers.

The Saint Thomas Academy students competed against teams from North and South America in designing and building vehicles that were tested for fuel efficiency on Houston streets. The vehicle with the best fuel efficiency wins.
