Fafinski Mark & Johnson Expands Litigation Practice with Appellate Attorney

Welcomes Minnesota Powerhouse Sharon Van Dyck

Fafinski Mark & Johnson, P.A. announced recently that well-known Minnesota litigator Sharon Van Dyck joined the firm, adding depth to its Litigation group with her extensive appellate and complex motion experience. Fafinski Mark & Johnson serves local, national and international clients in 12 primary practice areas: Aviation, Bankruptcy & Insolvency, Commercial Lending & Finance, General Corporate & Business, HR & Employment, Insurance, Intellectual Property, Litigation, Mergers & Acquisitions, Real Estate, Trusts & Estates, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

“We are very pleased to have Sharon Van Dyck on board at Fafinski Mark & Johnson,” said Robert Fafinski, Jr., CEO of Fafinski Mark & Johnson. “Sharon has had some truly incredible victories for her clients over the last 28 years. Her practice has spanned numerous areas of the law, including business issues, federal preemption, and personal injury, to name a few. Her extensive complex motion and appellate experience complements our litigation group nicely.”

Van Dyck comes to Fafinski Mark & Johnson after eight years of private practice. She began her legal career at Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben, after graduating magna cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law. Van Dyck has 28 years of experience, and has appeared in more than 100 appeals before the Minnesota appellate courts, as well as in the U.S. appellate courts in the Fifth, Eighth, Ninth, and Eleventh circuits. At the trial level, she was instrumental in obtaining justice for the surviving families of four young people killed at railroad crossing crash in Frazier v. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. The young people died when a BNSF train, traveling 60 miles per hour, hit their car as they drove across the tracks. A $24 million verdict was awarded to the families of the victims after years of courtroom battles, during which a jury determined that BNSF tampered with key evidence concerning the operation of the warning signals.
