Minnesota Connections Academy Students Give Back to Community

The K-12 online public school's 'Winter Warm' Up event included a movie, games, hot chocolate bar, donations to Face To Face and more!

Minnesota Connections Academy's Student Council recently hosted the school's annual Winter Warm Up event at its St. Paul headquarters. Students, family members and faculty enjoyed games, a hot chocolate bar, a movie, snacks and more.

As part of the evening event, the group collected items for Face to Face, a St. Paul non-profit organization dedicated to the needs of youth ages 11–24. Senior Jasmine Baerg, student council vice president and Junior Abigail Thelen, student council president, delivered the items to Face To Face.

“I feel really blessed to have this opportunity to serve others," said Thelen. “I love being a part of such an active Student Council and enjoy getting to know my peers, as well as having the opportunity to make a difference at my school and in my community.”

Connections Academy, a K-12 online public school, is designed to meet the needs of students and their families who are looking for a unique public school option—those who need a flexible schedule, learn at a different pace from their peers, need more individualized attention or live in isolated rural settings. Real-time, Parent Panels are currently being offered. In-person and real-time, online Information Sessions are also offered.
